When entering the room, I was nervous, because I was "LATE"! Yes, I did, and I felt really bad! I'm not sure how, but, I got caught up in the Tiger's game traffic. But, once I entered the session, everyone was very polite and made me feel really comfortable and part of the group. The agenda appeared to be a routine in which everyone was familiar with. The entire session was timed in a positive aggressive manner. There were obvious rules, which everyone seemed to know to follow, including myself. Such as, clapping when the speakers completed their speeches and not talking while others were speaking.
I had the pleasure to hear two speakers give two different speeches on two different topics. Both speakers had different set times which they had to give their speeches. If they went over or under the time within thirty seconds, they would count against them. Each person time was kept by the time keeper. The normal way in which they keep time is using a cards, I believe. Now, they use a miniature stop light, which some in the group had not gotten use to and it caused a bit of confusion during the session. Due to time being of the most importance, this discussion about the new way of keeping time was not acceptable, and it was mentioned at the end of the meeting as being a problem. The problem was also solved in a very respectful manner.
Overall, I enjoyed the session. I feel that I could benefit and learn a lot from the group, as I am not comfortable speaking in front of people. I get nervous speaking at our family reunions, each time. Everyone, that I met was so enthusiastic and encouraging. I also, made sure to motivate the speakers by letting them know how much I enjoyed their speech and that I felt they did a amazing job.
